Gossamer worms are one of favorite infrequent visitors to the Salish Sea. They spend their entire life swimming and usually live at depth in the mid water, but at night they can migrate up to the surface. These worms also have a beautiful yellow bioluminescence, which is why I decided to make these beanies glow in the dark.

The base beanie is made of 100% acrylic and can be machine washed in cold water and dried on low heat. The embroidered design is made with glow in the dark embroidery thread.

While the design may appear crinkled in photos, this is intentional as the beanie was stretched in the embroidery hoop so that it would lay nicely when worn. The beanies pictured are samples, your beanie may vary slightly as I make them all myself, but I will do my best to match them.

This design is adapted from a public domain PhyloPic, which you can find at this link: https://www.phylopic.org/images/58cbb605-ab86-4419-979f-84fca002220e/tomopteris

Image 1 ID: Fully zoomed out photo of the black knit beanie with the embroidered gossamer worm on the upturned brim. The worm's body has a mesh like pattern to give it a sense of transparency. There is a more opaque line through the worm representing the gut, and the antennae and tail are also satin stitched. The body is white and the tail is orange.

Image 2 ID: Beanie seen in the dark. The body glows green and the tail glows lightly orange.
