Mitrocoma cellularia jellyfish beanie
Mitrocoma cellularia is one of several Salish Sea jellies commonly called a cross jelly, and is one of the larger hydrozoan jellies that we see. In this piece I wanted to give the sense the mouth is really inside the bell and also capture as many little details about this animal that I could.
I tried to have the tentacles be roughly the correct number, and the mouth of the jelly underneath the applique matches the four long lips this species has. I also included glow in the dark thread along the parts of this animals anatomy that bioluminesce.
The design is ~2.5" wide.
The base beanie is made of 100% acrylic and can be machine washed on a delicate cycle in cold water and dried on low heat. The embroidered design is made with Floriani Polyester embroidery thread and glow in the dark Brothread thread. The appliquéd design is a combination of felt and organza.
The beanies pictured are samples, your beanie may vary slightly as I make them all myself, but I will do my best to match them.
The Mitrocoma cellularia design is a NonCompliant Cyborg original pattern by JA Fields.

Image 2 ID: The same beanie shown in the dark. The outer rim of the bell glows green.
Image 3 ID: close up of the design. Up close the vellum is also visible inside the bell.
