~4"x4" heart shaped felt embroidered patch with iron on backing

Show your love of ctenophores with this heart shaped Bloody Belly Comb Jelly!

The Bloody Belly Comb Jelly, Lampocteis, is a species of deep sea ctenophore (also called comb jellies), which casts rainbows via refraction with the ciliated combs they wave for locomotion. While they are plankton and carried by the current, they can turn and maneuver shockingly well.

Like Bolinopsis, Lampocteis is a lobate ctenophore, but rather than being clear like its cousin, it is a blood red color that while not be visible at the deep depths it lives, is quite striking to us.

I designed this patch based on images and videos I watch from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where Lampocteis are on display. One of my dreams is to see them in person someday.
