This Beroe abyssicola design is based on a photo of the first one I ever saw back in 2016 on a sunny day in Friday Harbor, WA. I knew I wanted to make this piece when I first found the base bandana fabric which reminds me so much of how the water looks in Friday Harbor in Spring. For the Beroe, I wanted to capture that deep pink stomach and their intricate little diverticulations. I created the effect through multiple layers of applique and a stippling fill in a metallic thread.

The base bandana is an approximately 19" square of cotton and the embroidery is 100% Polyester Floriani embroidery thread and metallic King Star threads. The appliquéd design is a combination of felt, cotton, and organza. The embroidered design is approximately 4.5" x 2.5".

The Beroe abyssicola design is a NonCompliant Cyborg original pattern by JA Fields.

Image 1 ID: A bandana with an almost water colored appearance of dreamy blues and greens. Appliqued on it at an angle is a vibrant pink Beroe abyssicola ctenophore. The main animal is a softer pink, with a deeper pink floral stomach and little metallic stitched diverticulations. The ctene rows are a bright but deeper pink.
