Sometimes I Pray // Meloxicam Sonnet | Art Prints
$20.00
This piece is a cyborg sonnet, a sonnet format being developed by disabled poets. Cyborg Sonnets should not have fourteen lines.
In this sonnet, two bundles of dried lavender cross each other against a stone bowl in which an embroidered monarch butterfly rests. The rim of the bowl and the edge of the butterflies wings are in stark focus, showing stitch marks and the striations of the rock. The butterfly and bowl blur and fade to darkness as they move inward. 13 white pills cascade from top left to bottom right, along with loose lavender buds. One pill is drawn towards the butterfly, taking the path of the other bundle of lavender.
